What other franchises can do this?

The Simpsons have poked fun of their original animated counterparts before, but I don't think there has been an entire episode devoted to it.It could be a treehouse of horror episode. First, they can run into their 1990 counterparts which were more edgier and then run into their original Tracy Ulman selves which looked and acted more crude than their 1990 selves.

Alvin and the Chipmunks sort of did this in a Back to the Future parody in 1990 when they ran into their 'Alvin Show' selves. But now in 2015, there are several more incarnations to work with. I know there are at least four versions of the chipmunks.

However I don't know if it would work with legendary characters like Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny or even Kermit the Frog. Because their personalities have stayed consistent over the years This would work better for characters whose personalities as well as looks evolved over time

It would have to be something with at least two or three different incarnations that differ to the other series portrayels.

Nothing really comes to mind that's been rebooted that was a massive change to the originals.... Not two cartoons anyway.
