Ispansi is clearly one of the best Spanish films of the last 25 years.

Ispansi is clearly one of the best Spanish films of the last 25 years. I can't understand why many people criticize this film, is unbelievable how stupid can be human being. If you want to see a great film about the two Spains (Nationalists and Republicans), you have to watch this film. The same director and actor from "Un franco, 14 pesetas" is just incredible in his second film as director.

Shortly after the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War, the Republic sent 3,000 children to Russia to protect them from domestic bombings. The first to go were the children in orphanages. Beatriz, daughter of a wealthy family rights, whose father and brother were Falangists, became pregnant from a man who refused to marry her and decided to hide his son in an orphanage in Madrid. Upon learning of the child's impending trip to Russia, steals the identity of a dead Republican (Paula) and volunteers to care for children. She will start a terrible journey, surrounded by enemies, and from thousands of miles from their country and their world. In June '41, Hitler invaded Russia. The continual arrival of fresh troops for the defense of Moscow and again hinders the travel of the Spanish. In one of these stops joined them Alvaro, a political commissar of the Communist Party of Spain.
