The sad truth about Ellis

Ellis regularly breaks into stories about the crazy things his buddy Keith used to get up to. These stories are always shut down by one of the other survivors who tells him this is not the time. Note the hint of sadness in his voice when he says "Okay". Ellis is a simple southern country boy, not too bright and not given towards deep contemplation. It occurred to me that these stories are his way of dealing with what he knows down inside is the truth....his buddy Keith is probably either dead or infected. His reminisces are his way of grieving without breaking down and yet none of the others recognises this. For shame Nick, Rochelle and Coach, for shame.

Anyone else make up any backstory for characters when playing a game?

Hey, I'm a girl gamer, and I agree with the OP.

And, besides. The others are right. They have bigger things to worry about, like escaping with all their limbs and organs intact. But, I appreciate Ellis' attempts to lighten the mood.

It seems to me that the others also don't want to accept the truth that they could end up just like Keith. So, maybe that's why they just shut Ellis down all the time.

Screw you, you sexist ass. Ellis is hot, and I will gladly talk about that whenever I damn well please. But I also wouldn't mind talking about character depth, either.

I sure hope Keith isn't dead. Poor Ellis, losing a friend like that. Hope we later find out that Keith is still alive and doing bizzare life threatening things and some how surviving them.

Personally I always liked the idea that Keith isn't real, just a figment of Ellis's imagination as a way to remember his past. I mean, he did mess up that story about the five story building on fire - thinking it was Keith when it was actually them only a little while before.

It could be that all the different stories are different people and he's kind of breaking down and not being able to remember them, what happened to Dave? We never hear of him again...

But yeah, that's all just crazy talk, I think your idea is a pretty cool way of looking at it, I have though when playing that it sucks cause Keith is probably dead.

And also, girl gamer here, and I'm pretty sure that the person who just wrote 'ellis is hot' or whatever, was probably just kidding and couldn't think of anything better to write :S

Heh, I always assumed the stories were his way of mourning. Silly I suppose to attribute that much to a video game character.

Wrong. According to Ellis, Keith was one of the first people to get on an evac chopper...
