I didn't really expect much, but I thought it was really good. Maybe it'll teach young ladies a thing or two...fast money is not the way to go.

I think that was one of the messages. Most video girls get into it for the money, that may not have been Lorie's reasoning, but I would hope that her demise would still deter young women from getting caught up or encourage them to exercise caution when getting into the business.
I don't think things were bad at home, I think Lorie was just seeking something to replace her destroyed ballet dreams. Plus her sister encouraged her to do it.
Her sister kind of annoyed me. I think her sister would have ended up dead if she had gone to LA too. If it hadn't been that specific thug boyfriend, it would have been another.

I enjoyed the film because they didn't make Lori into some sort of victim. She made BAD choices on her own. She is an adult and chose to leave and go to California and kept making bad moves until the end. People are not always forced into a bad life and a lot of movies make their protagonist into victims.

I am glad to see Meagan Good star in a movie that puts her acting skills on full display. I am tired of seeing Meagan playing the stereotypical girlfriend of the star role or the token sidekick chick role. Hopefully this movie will get Meagan A and B-list work similar to Zoe Saldana. Meagan can act; she just needs the right role so she can move up to Halle Berry and Zoe Saldana status. I just wish she got naked in this movie.
