Just finished watching

I TIVO'ed this the other day and just watched. Fascinating documentary. I really enjoyed the back story on how the Strip started back in the heyday of Hollywood. The gangsters that owned the clubs. What the clubs must have been like with recreated scenes from The Aviator with Howard Hughes taking starlets to the club, LA Confidential, Bugsy and others. Lenny Bruce performed at the clubs on the Strip and he died there. The Sixties with The Doors, Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix, Mamas and The Papas. Today groups play large depersonalized arenas and stadiums. The "Strip" and Hollywood Boulevard are still in LA but exist only as caricatures of themselves. If one could go back into a Time Machine and see what it was like when it actually existed it would be an amazing trip.

What do you mean today's groups play big arenas? Those bands you mentioned played the strip because they weren't big yet. They went on to play bigger depersonalize venues themselves.

True that. Guns N Roses (the original lineup), Motley Crue, Red Hot Chili Peppers.
