shoes

I think it is interesting in the old story, women's feet were bound. In the modern story, women wear incredibly high heels by choice that also are painful and damage their feet.

I saw a collection of photos on the internet last week where they showed the feet of famously beautiful women and they were deformed and nasty from wearing shoes too tight, too high and not shaped for a real woman's foot. It was actually kind of funny. These women are so conceited, they probably think their feet are cute.

Wearing shoes that you like is "conceited"? Lol, right. Okay.

Like many people do on the internet, you twisted what I said. As you can clearly see, I no where said that wearing shoes that one likes makes one conceited. The photos shown, as I recall because this was a long time ago, were of famous women's feet that were knarley looking from years wearing impractical shoes. My comment was, these women are so conceited, they probably think their feet are still cute. In the pics, their knarley feet were on display in very expensive high heel strappy shoes. It struck me as funny. Rather like a bulldog in a tutu thinking it is cute.I don't care if you agree with me, but if you still don't understand what I am meaning, I will not bother to explain further. Good day.

First up - this was better than 6.1.

My lady and I had a long discussion on the practise of bound feet and that of high heels, viz a viz custom, fashion - and choice. No 5-y/o really had the choice to be bound, but what motivated their mothers? A better prospect for a marriage, true enough. But a 15-y/o does have the choice to not wear high heels - but usually opts to do so. In both cases, what is the reasoning? To be attractive to the male, certainly, but it is, too, custom of the age and society, albeit to a different degree. I've never worn high heels, it looks to be painful in its own right - the toes squashed into a point, no balance on the sole, and jarring on the heel... and some women want to do this. Beats me. Sure, as a male I like the fact that a woman wearing high heels has her buttocks and breasts thrust out, but I deplore the need that wearers seem to have of thinking they are smarter, more business-like, or more attractive, than a flat-heeled 'sister'. And it's an indictment of present society that figures women should dress up like that... in that way it's really hardly any different to olden China.
