All in her mind?

Are we supposed to assume that the living dolls were hallucinations she manufactured to justify killing her mom and killing the other kids? Or was there any supernatural aspect to this at all? Also, her first scene where she brutally castigates one of the dolls for not wanting tea was that meant to reflect on how she was treated by her own mom or that she had sociopathic tendencies?

She was schizophrenic. It was all in her mind.
She was treated terribly by her mom (who WAS a sociopath), so as schizophrenics often do, she had hallucinations.
Hers were the very scary clowns who were really just the ill parts of her mind *telling* her what to do.

On a side note, I read on the Net that this movie is, ironically, the filmmakers' *baby*
Meaning he worked hard & cared a lot about it and never thought he'd get it on film.
 It was his dream.

That said, I wonder why he made it quite as *odd* as he did, and some plotholes.
Like didn't she go away/get arrested for killing her mom??

But all in all, I liked it. Not sure why haha, but I did. The effects were VERY scary & the music superb.
The lead actress did well too, the sadness on her face at the end was palpable.

I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.
Didn't he discover America?
Penfold, shush.
