Why is there always a British guy?

It seems like every movie is not complete these days without a cocky British guy.

I mean how many times does the average American run into a British guy in their daily routine?

Sorry to bitch about the smallest detail, the movie looks funny, but I just grew tired of studios always having to throw in and sell the next Brit guy.

reply

Because the British guys are hot :P
Even if the guy playing him was Welsh (I think).

reply

Yes the Welsh guys are even hotter, like Christian Bale and Ioan Gruffudd, but I didn't realise they were British at first. I thought like the Irish they were separate from Britain.

reply

Northern Ireland is part of Britain.

reply

Actually Northern Ireland is not part of Britain. It is part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Britain is England and Wales. Great Britain is England, Wales and Scotland...

I'm sorry you don't have any friends... Doesn't change the facts though. :^)

seriously just because you are correct on a technicality doesn't mean you have to point it out. The point I made was perfectly valid and then some no friends loser like you comes along to point out the slight error in my comment. There was no need for it. Get a life loser.

reply

Seriously though. You made an incorrect statement. If your only response to having that pointed out to you, is to resort to name calling and insults, you did not have a valid point to make in the first place. It is not a technicality, it is a fact. Unless you have something other than abuse to respond with, I won't pay any further attention to you. :^)

Really, just get a life. You're just a troll trying to pi*s people off by telling them they are wrong on tiny irrelvant things. Do us all a favor stop trolling and leave this discussion.

So you don't have anything other than abuse to respond with? Very mature...

Wow. Just because someone tries to make sure that nobody else gets misinformation that you seem to believe is true, then they're a smart ass? Gee, I guess that makes you a dumb ass. A mistake being pointed out without malice or insult is no reason to start crap like that, so just crawl back under your bridge, or rock, or wherever you came from, and quit starting sh!te.

Actually, you're the troll in this scenario... I thought this whole convo was funny because you were trying to correct someone and when someone turned around and did the same with you (with ACTUAL facts) then you started feeling crunchy! Your exchange was funnier than this whole movie - IMHO...

I'm bumping this thread until the end of time. Or at least until the entire internet finds the terms 'okcomputr' and 'troll' to be synonymous.

reply

Good for you! You do come back to bask in your shame occasionally. But I feel a little shortchanged by your response. In addition to "loser", shouldn't you be calling me a troll, telling me to get a life, and that I have no friends? Oh, I get it, that's all you know how to say, and you were saving those for replies to future bumps. Sorry to have messed that up for you. I guess you may have to get a little creative next time. Or, if you're completely flummoxed, you can possibly find a witty retort in my posting history.

But I do feel compelled to mention that while some of them are quite good (if I do say so myself!), I always have something better.

See you next bump!

I think that since the early Guy Richie movies, English gangsters have become cool. It also seems that bad language is less offensive when used by someone non American. Also if you want a non American cast member, at least British people don't need to be subtitled...

Lol. I've never heard anyone complain about a British guy before. Nor do I see them thrown in that often.
Besides, Matt Ryan is a great actor and he was hilarious in this part.

I suppose I should have enlarged my screen while watching Netflix - I thought I was looking at Colin Farrell for a large part of the movie!

reply

Ha! He does look a lot like Colin Farrell.

Can't we have one movie where people don't talk about ethnic groups (present or absent) and just watch the movie for what it is supposed to be? Seriously, I have seen several threads on several movies which play the race/nationality factor - no blacks, no hispanics, no asians, too many asians, minorities or foreigners always shown in a negative light, upper class white people getting away with crime, white people shown as snobbish or as as serial killers, etc, etc, etc.

Man, just leave it be for one movie. Is that too much to ask for?

reply

I agree. I don't see the point in threads like this.

I think you all missed the point... he wasn't British.

Early in the movie the Weinstein character says to him "enough with the stupid accent", indicating that the blonde guy was putting it on to be cool. Therefore his character was a gag insinuating that heist movies always have a British guy.

reply

Hm, never thought of it that way. I thought he just didn't like his accent. So a British actor playing an American pretending to be British? Hilarious x)

A British guy would have to come highly recommended before he could join an American gang of criminals.
