Look to the big players. Jeffrey Tambor is too big a star to have like one freakin’ line before the reveal. It was poorly thought-out and poorly executed.

I agree with Matt as well.
He is actually the perfect "sized" actor for that type of movie and that role. This movie came out in 2011. What was he really doing at that point? Arrested Development hadn't started back up and had finished years before. He made a couple of little roles like this one. He isn't some in demand "A" list actor.
That would be more the "size" of Patrick Dempsey's stardom. That's why he is the main character.
You also have to keep in mind that this is an independent film.
A lot of times actors do these because they want to make the movie and know they aren't going to get paid
what they usually do.
That's also why Jeffey Tambor was doing commercials for hummus for a while. He had nothing else going on at all. LOL. "A" list star. He's a pretty good actor but no where close.
It's not even revealed that there is a mastermind until there's only ten minutes left. If you knew before this it would have been pure speculation. Besides you could make the same case for the nerds guy up until he's dead and can't be behind anything.
