Reminds me of Winter's Bone, only decent.

I thought the same exact thing.

Yep, except that Winter's Bone was a fantastic movie all around, and this one was good but Sam's performance (as always) elevated it to greatness.

I'd tend to agree with you...if I felt like Winter's Bone was a fantastic film. But alas, I don't.
