Help please!

You have to watch the movie

I watched the movie. I did not see an explanation why she was living in the woods either. That's what this board is for to get answers to questions and discuss the movie. Now I'm sure I'll get a reply from some rude a$$ that is younger that I have been a member of this board. No manners, no respect to be found here.

I may be wrong, but I assumed she was in the woods attempting to find and steal the money for her and her boyfriend, Waylon, who was the cellmate of Obie who had initially stolen the money after murdering the rich couple, before Obie could get out of jail and to it. Waylon was going to double cross Obie anyways, that is why he cut his throat. From what I got the girlfriend and Waylon were going to Hawaii after stealing the money, thus the significance of the note found on the girl by Moon.

I read the book. The girl was waiting on Waylon to return. The money came from obadiah and Simon robbing and murdering an old couple who lived up the mountain. Obadiah was convicted of another crime (not the murders) and met Waylon in prison. Once out, waylon gives obadiah some drugs and is going to use the stolen money that had been buried as payment. John moon accidentally kills the girl and takes the money. They're pretty sure he's the one because of the wound and that Moon is known to hunt deer using a shotgun.
