I know in reality, Butler isn't that much older than Biel but he LOOKS significantly older; it kinda bugs me. . It's kinda ewww. They don' t really make a nice looking couple. Ironically, Uma Thurman or Catherine Zeta Jones would've been better suited to play his love interest but the "older" women were relegated to supporting roles. And how did Catherine and Uma end up with a supporting role behind a mediocre actress like Biel and a so-so actor like Gerard?

Hollywood keeps thinking that Biel is a box office draw and she’ll bring in money, but in reality she's box office poison. She can't carry a movie to save her life.
Won't be long before her movies start going straight to DVD and she's forgotten.
Butler isn't much better. Since 300 was such a big hit everyone assumes his name can sell a movie, but in reality it can't.
How much longer do I have to wait?
If this movie were made 10-15 years ago, Catherine or Uma would have easily have been cast in the lead female role, but I guess according to Hollywood standards, they are now considered "past their prime", & relegated to play the "older" supporting roles, even though they are more age appropriate for Gerard than Jessica Biel.

At least she's old enough for him to date in real life...using the 1/2 the age + 7 yrs rule. He's 43, she's 30, so him minimum age for woman is 28.5 yrs old.

since dawn of time, da guy is alwayz older bec women mature faster and also need financial security dat an older gentleman can provide. of course wid change in workin landscape these dayz and equal gender opz, women can now support themselvez but i suspect most of these women r lesboz or too fugly or too fat 2 get a man in da 1st place.

In the movie, it is implied he likes younger women. She was 23 when they had their son and he was already an aging soccer star at that point. The age thing didn't bother me at all during the movie. Didn't even notice it. They do have chemistry together. She also looked at lot older in the film then in the trailer. If anything she looked mid 30s and him 40s. Don't really think that is ewww.
