Delayed recruiting querie???

A few times now, just to speed up my passage through the game to completion; I've gone through without picking up Thane, Samara, or occasionally, Tali. The other day, something occurred to me: when you pick these characters up, it's always Jacob who's with Shepard, usually throwing in a thinly veiled insult for good measure... so I wondered; what would happen if you skipped picking up so-&-so, got Jacob killed at the final mission, then went back to pick up the missing people? Would there be someone else standing in for ME2's least popular character? Or would he miraculously recover just for that meeting?

"Hey, it's Alabama Smith!"
"Indiana Jones!"
"Whatever."

You would break the game, I think. Or Ghost Jacob would be there to voice his disdain.

Did it; just completed a game without Thane & Samara, but killed Jacob on the base... the game does a cop-out. Instead of having someone else; it just skips the cutscene and goes on with the game; dumping you back on Illium after recruiting.

Ugh. That's so stupid; they replace people during other parts of the game so why would they stop after the "official" end?

That's one of my problems with pretty much all the scenes in the conference room. Unlike the first game, which got the whole -admittedly smaller- team for a post-op meeting/tea break, they stuck with Jacob, occasionally Miranda, and for the post-collector ship mission, they just added Mordin.

Heck, in the first one, they created different dialogue from the team, dependant on who was there, who'd died and who hadn't been recruited.

Maybe because Jacob sounds really xenophobic in most of those cutscenes so having another character saying the same thing would come across as OOC?

Jacob only shows disdain for Thane outta those three,but joker has something to say about them all.
