Skewed moral choices?

Has anyone thought that some of the red/blue options seem to be a bit... bass ackwards?

I was thinking the other day about the confrontation you have on Omega with Harrot over the quarian kid.

For the red option, you persuade Harrot to buy out the kid's store; basically giving him money for a ticket off Omega.

Yet the blue option is threatening to break Harrot's legs if he doesn't leave the kid alone??? WTF!?

Thoughts?

I never really looked at it as good and evil options. It's more like the method you use in which to resolve a situation. Renegade(red) is more aggressive and Paragon(blue) is more passive. I am primarily Paragon, but I went renegade in the following choices.

Dealing with the Heretic Geth. Paragon is rewriting, yet to me personally that is akin to brainwashing. Which I find to be morally worse than killing them. So I destroyed them.

Another example for me is the Collector base. Destroying it is renegade, yet I prefer that choice because I didn't trust The Illusive Man. If I were able to tell The Illusive Man that I destroyed it but then I could actually preserve it for the Alliance to look at it I would have done that instead. Not an option though.

Most things are a gray area. Nothing is truly black and white when it comes to what's good and what's evil.

Oh, I get the passive over agressive option; it just struck me as off on that one conversation that the red option was 'give the kid money', whilst the blue one was a threat.

I tend to rewrite the Geth, not because I don't see the brain washing thing, but because the Geth are the most powerful armada in the galaxy.

The problem with the collector base is that neither option makes a big difference in the scheme of things. An interesting idea you have there, telling TIM you blew it up, & turning it over to the Alliance; but since Cerberus went nosing through the relay even if you blew up the base, that could've caused problems, since then they'd probably destroy it to keep it out of Alliance hands. And then there's indoctrination effect; nothing good has come from messing with Reaper tech... aside from EDI. So if the Alliance did get the base there's no guarantee they'd not be influenced by the base itself???

My character is primarily paragon while I use renegade dialogue when I think it's warranted; sometimes renegade just makes more sense in a particular situation or when it's a funny scene like when Shepard headbutted Uveck. What I really don't like is the neutral choice consequences where you get both renegade and paragon points. It's supposed to be neutral so why get any points at all? I agree that sometimes the choices are backwards, though. Just like with romances, you don't want a romance with a particular character but the paragon choices sometimes initiates them or is "flirty" when trying not to be a flat out prick. I REAALLY hate my femshep dialogue with Jacob because it feels like I'm throwing myself at him whenever I'm trying to be nice with Paragon, even when I initiate personal inquiry dialogue it sounds like I'm looking to get in his pants.

As for Quarian kid on Omega, I always gave him the 1000 credits he needed and didn't even bother with Harrot. That's how you get paragon points and I'm sure you'd have the extra credits to spare.

Most of my Shep's lean towards Paragon; I've never been all that comfortable going full out renegade. (Which is really annoying if you want to play the renegade mission in ME1)

I tend to do most of the interrrupts, no matter which way they happen. (Though I never interrupt Mordin, since he's so funny to listen to)

The only downside to giving the Quarian kid his money straight off, is that you don't get the discount with Harrot... mind you, his shop is a rip off even with it.

Heh, I NEVER interrupt Mordin either! I love listening to him go on scientific tangents a mile a second.

With Harrot, he never really sold anything that I couldn't get anywhere else for cheaper or just didn't need.
