Rustin Parr hanging goof.

Did they say in this film Rustin Parr was hung in the woods outside his house in this crapfest of a film? I'm pretty sure in the excellent "Curse of the Blair Witch" fake documentary about the fake documentary, it's pretty clear he's executed in prison. I'd go back to check what they said in this new film but honestly... I'd rather randomly climb up a tree to retrieve a drone I have no need for.

I doubt it's a goof. They were just making stuff up, mythology be damned.

reply

haven't seen that in a while but what I remember they showed a picture of the outside of the prison with a mob of people. even though the narrator is talking about Parr being hung in front of witnesses I don't think he says where the hanging actually took place. just that as he's talking about the hanging they show a picture of the outside of the courthouse/prison. this leads viewers to believe it was outside the prison, but it's never actually stated.

They wouldn't have dragged him miles into the woods just to hang him by his house. It would make no sense and the authorities wouldn't have allowed it.

reply

Real Simple.

It's not a goof. They didn't say he was hanged outside his house. Just that he was hanged.

"Curse of the Blair Witch" specified that he was hanged at prison.

Talia: They hanged him out in these woods, near his house.

reply

That's weird, since I re-played just before posting to check. I heard nothing like "in these woods".

However, the explanation is still simple. Talia's just wrong. She's relating some bit of urban legend she's heard about a true occurrence. It's not like she was citing a source, after all.

She says it pretty clearly at 14:04.

She's wrong is the Author Is Dead explanation. One I'd accept if not for all the other goofs or retcons.

"Author is Dead"?

Can you explain that one?
