To me, I really like documentaries that really delve into the emotional aspect of the activity they are covering - good and bad.
The good of the magic was really shown, but the bad was hardly shown at all. They hardly spent any time on the magic show competition, and the friendships made there. They didn't show any disappointment really, or what the kids' reactions were in depth when the winners were announced.
The "6 months after" was kinda a let down too. It almost seemed liked the kids who didn't win were giving up on things? Hiro, the winner, was the only one who said it just makes him want to practice harder.
I did enjoy it though. What I liked most was seeing that these kids knew that if you wanted to make somethign of yourself, you had to dedicate your life to it, and they were willing to do that.
