Making a movie, not a sequel

Much like Batman and James Bond, why not make a second movie, independent from the first with a different cast (or not), different script writer, different director.

Maybe those people have a clause to be kept for a sequel, I don't know. However I think that might be a neat idea, and it might save the franchise. I would LOVE (LOVE, LOVE, LOVE) to see a sequel "remastered" with a different take on the serie. Different director, different Jace, Simon (and I loved Simon), etc. My point is a different spin might not be such a bad idea.

Not only does it bring relief to all the haters (everyone) but it also puts a spin on the follow up films. People will start having their favorite cast, favorite writers, etc.

I think this might save the franchise, but also put a balm on fans' deception.
