Valerie (spoilers regarding update episode)

I watched Valerie's "Where Are They Now?" episode last night, and I'm really impressed with her progress. Her house had been condemned by the city health department, and she was given two weeks to make 'significant' progress; that was in 2012. At the end of her original episode, the house was un-condemned and things were looking good.

When the revisit was done, Valerie had had ongoing visits from the health department to follow up on her situation. She and the health department guy have forged a comfortable relationship, and he is very supportive and complimentary regarding her progress.

It's nice seeing that, at least in some cases, the hoarders really do accomplish long-term success. Valerie is very aware and open about her tendency to hoard, to want to hold on to...stuff...but she's fighting it and doing a good job.

I wish they would do an update show on Sherry. I would love to see that both children have moved out and Sherry is stuck in her living room buried up to her neck in used sanitary pads and Pepsi cans.

^^ This!!  I'd also like to find out that she stopped receiving disability for her '13 disabilities'--after the people involved saw the show! After all, she was SITTING around all day long consuming forbidden foods/drinks, which makes her diabetes an issue, AND she was perfectly capable of jumping up and running to her car when she got pissed off at the therapist. Those 13 disabilities seem to come and go...at will. 

I saw the update show on Ronda yesterday, and her house has basically reverted back to its pre-cleanup condition. Not QUITE as bad, but it's getting there.

One hoarder I'd really like to see a followup on is Louise. I think her episode was called "One is Good, Two is Better." She was the trust fund baby in LA who'd gone through her fortune and was facing eviction; at that time she had two apartments, both filled to capacity, but as I recall we only saw the one she was living in. I felt really sorry for her and would like to know whatever became of her.

Valerie is one of the reasons why I watch this show.

I like to see people be able to beat their illness.
