MONTY!!

Monty Hall (88 years old!) has been on the show the last couple of days and, according to Wayne, will be on all week. (March 22-26, 2010)

Monty has done a deal, with a contestant, each day. Today, he gave away a new car, to a couple that have been married 45 years. It was a pretty exciting deal, starting with Monty giving them a money roll, with $50.00 bill on the outside. They traded that, (ended up being $1,500.00) for a curtain. Monty kept offering other trades, which included a car, a Zonk, and an offer to trade their curtain back for the $1,550.00. They stuck with their original curtain, and ended up with a car (different from the car behind the curtain they passed up.

So, anyway, great to see you Monty! Brings back a lot of memories from the '60's and '70's!

Did you see the Deal Monty did today (Wed. 3/24)?

It was the final Deal, before the Big Deal, and Monty chose a couple. Jonathan brought down an easel with something like 13 cards on it. All but two had various dollar amounts on them, and those other two, naturally, were ZONKS.

I believe the deal was, they could keep choosing cards as long as they got dollar amounts. If they got all the way through without hitting a ZONK, they'd win a car. Of course, they could stop at any time and keep the total dollars they'd accumulated so far. But, once they hit a ZONK, game over, lose everything.

The first card they chose was a ZONK. Monty was stunned, and didn't quite know what to do with the Deal being over so quickly. So, what he did, wasa offer to let them draw one more time. If they got the other ZONK, they won the car. Or, whatever dollar amount they drew, Monty would double it.

They chose the other card, and it was the other ZONK! They won the car!

Like Wayne said, it was the most exciting point of this incarnation of the show!

It was the best Zonk that ever happened in the history of LMAD and the beauty of it is that it was done by our original big dealer himself.
