This is stupid!

How many prisoners have internet access? If they do let them have access to a computer there is something twisted in our legal system! Soooooo stupid!

Don't tell God how big your storm is...Tell the storm how big your God is.

LOL I was wondering if prisoners really are allowed to use social websites like myspace and facebook. Doesn't seem right...

they were communicating through email, weren't they? prisoners are usually allowed to write letters there really isn't any difference.

however, i do agree that it would be screwed up if they were allowed to use facebook or my space but if they do have access to computers, they probably block these websites...

They didn't know each other before he went into prison. To exchange email addresses they met via a social website. They made up a name of a social website since they couldn't use Facebook or myspace without getting sued.

i just realized that just now...i was watching the movie again and i noticed they were using a dating website...i guess i wasn't paying attention the last time i saw it.

how can i see this movie? my email is [email protected] thanks

I don't know how many of them have it but I know they have computers in the libraries of the prisons but they might have some sites blocked off.

You are right. If they have Internet access, it is not to go on social sites at all. Also, he could not call collect to a minor's cell phone. Embarrassing to say, but my brother in law was in prison, and we had to fill out paperwork just for him to be able to call us collect and it had to be a land line. And, they absolutely let the receiver know that the call is from prison. It is a whole different thing. It cost about three times what an already expensive collect call costs.

If you're not responding to me, "reply" to the post you're responding to. kthanks.

The rules probably vary based on the facility and the prisoner's particular crime. If it was a guy who was convicted of a sex crime or any kind of crime against minors, it would be certain that they'd make sure he's not able to contact any one like that. Also, prisoners usually get extra priviledges if they behave themselves.

I don't know about everywhere else but in louisiana they don't allow prisoners access to computers. Also, when they call collect it doesn't just say you are receiving a collect call from _____ it says you are receiving a collect call from ______ an inmate in the louisiana state correctional facility.

Oh and another thing the cop told the mother it wasn't illegal for a 23 year old to date a 17. I can't remember what state this movie was set in but in every southern state it is. And in Louisiana its illegal if the person is two years older and one person is under the age of 18 so you could be 19 dating a 17 year old and wind up on the registered sex offenders list for life.

This movie was such crap.

I kind of realized this movie was going to be kind of bad after seeing that they had internet access in the prison. I toured a prison and they told me that they have internet access, but it only accesses historical information. There is no access whatsoever to Facebook, MySpace, etc.

Also, when prisoners make collect calls from prison the call is identified at that time as being from a prison, and on the telephone bill when it shows up.

Well in the MOVIE world they were allowed access to an internet dating site, why does all movies HAVE to relate back to real life, can't you just think beyond real life and think well in this scenario in this movie they are allowed it, get over the whole real life thing, movies aren't real life get over it!

I don't understand the anger about the implications of reality versus the film on this board. What exactly do you expect we discuss here on the IMDb boards besides the comments, questions and opinions in regards to the film that we are watching? I don't understand why that is such a hard concept for someone so "reality" stricken to grasp themselves.

As far as the film goes, I think that the allegations of everyone that has replied are good points to bring up about the film. The age of consent in the film however, regardless of each state law, was said to be 16 years old. After she mentioned that her daughter was 17 years old, the probation officer informed her of the age of consent for wherever the film was taking place.

reply

LOL, of course it is. But it's Lifetime, so suspend belief and just enjoy the fluff and escape from the real world for a couple of hours!
