I hated the ending

I thought Jake was hot but the ending of the movie was just terrible.

AGREED. they absolutely didn't do anything good for Jake.

I hated it, too! The film was very mediocre but could have slightly redeemed itself with a decent ending. Jake wasn't a bad person -- he just got caught up in some bad stuff, and despite his wanting to be more in life, got caught up in even MORE bad stuff after being paroled. But he cared about Cami and put her needs before his in the end. He really DID want to have a family and kids and hold a good job.

And for that, we see her saying goodbye to him in jail again (and he's in for who knows how long) while she's on her way to a great new life in New York. And the last thing we see is her admiring the gift of an I-heart-New York shirt.

Lame is a new four-letter word! This ending was HORRIBLE!! Not an ounce of hope for Jake as he rots. This is one of the WORST endings of any movie I've seen in a VERY long time. Totally ruined the entire thing for me.

I agree-Cari wasn't blameless, but she waltzes off to a new life, while we see no good future for Jake. It would have been better if they had shown him taking courses in prison or learning a trade, because the way the script is written we have learned to see his good side.

I thought the ending was horrible, but I didnt feel bad for Jake at all.
He obviously had anger problems that needed to be dealt with. He was also the one who wanted to go after the drug dude for killing his jailbird friend.
But then, its a Lifetime movie, so I should expect nothing less.

Keep in mind that Jake chose to violate his parole by hanging with known criminals. Including his paroled cell mate, who also was not supposed to be hanging out with other known criminals. He even lied and used his sister's address, because he knew if they found out where he was living, he'd be back in prison.

reply

Jake was hanging out with these criminals because society shunned him for making a mistake when he was younger and going to prison. His sister didnt want him living with him, so he had to move in with his drug dealing friend. He tried his hardest to get a good job, and nobody would hire him, so he started dealing drugs. Poor guy really did want to change his life but nobody would give him another chance after being in prison, which really sucks. Everybody makes mistakes, some worse then others, but that doesnt mean that the person shouldnt get given another chance, especially if they do wanna do good things in life, like Jake seemed to wanna do.

The ending sucked - I mean she didn't even say "I love you" to Jake before she left for her fabulous life in NY... It was like they didn't even have a connection anymore and that nothing romantically happened b/w them. I felt bad for Jake - life dealt him a crappy hand; he treated her respectfully and loved her very much. She just acted w/no emotions towards him at the end. He was trying to protect her the whole time. Its like he couldn't catch a freaking break at all, that's why he ended up w/the wrong people again. The sex was consensual and she was of age in that state so they couldn't press charges for him on that - they don't even explain any of that part of the movie. He was defending himself against that guy when the gun went off, actually he was trying to protect his spoiled little "princess", he didn't want her mother to get hurt either - that *beep* did it before Jake could stop him. I think the mother/daughter should at least defend him for trying to stop that guy from hurting them, because he was trying to protect not only his "princess" but her mother as well so they should at least try and get Jake some decent lawyer to help him (they had consensual sex, and in that state (again) it was legal); not pay for it but get someone pro bono who would really try and get Jake decent legal help this time, because his last lawyer evidentially sucked. I just hate how Cami acted at the end - like good-bye Jake I'm off to live my new life in NY for college - SEE YA! She really acted like Jake meant nothing to her when all he did was try and protect her. Yeah he lied about being in prison, but after he got out he really wanted a new clean life - of course his sister was NO help to him at all; some family he had, huh? He made mistakes in the past but paid for them, his BIG MISTAKE was talking "online w/Cami" she was no angel herself. The whole point here is that Jake got screwed in the end and Cami was off to her "new college life in New York" also his friend didn't deserve to die the way he did.. this movie pissed me off so much; HOPE YA HAPPY CAMI BECAUSE JAKE SURE AS HELL ISN'T! SORRY SO LONG- NEEDED TO VENT ABOUT THE ATROCIOUS ENDING - IT SUCKED AND SO DID CAMI AS WELL. AGAIN BOTH THE MOTHER/CAMI SHOULD'VE DEFENDED HIM SOMEHOW BECAUSE HE DID TRY TO PROTECT THOSE UNGRATEFUL BITCHES IN THE END! SHE GOT HER "I LOVE NEW YORK SHIRT" - OH HOW SWEET - NOT! CAMI COULD GIVE A FLYING *beep* ABOUT JAKE, ITS LIKE WHAT THEY HAD TOGETHER NEVER HAPPENED AND SHE GOT "OVER" JAKE PRETTY FAST, EH?

I know this movie was filmed in Canada, but......welcome to the United States Justice System! That's how you get treated in this country if you do anything wrong at all. "Do you want a job? Well too bad! You should've thought of that before you committed a crime!" "Do you wanna vote? Well too bad! Criminals don't have rights!" And the stupid clowns wonder why there's so many repeat offenders and absolutely zero decrease in major crimes in this sorry ass country.
