Glad you liked it too. And yes i agree, chances of those 2 reuniting after he comes back from war - sounds too good to be true. :(

Agreed. Caught it on Netflix. Surprisingly good...a modest film that knew what it wanted to do and did it wonderfully.
shareI'm just watching it right now, but I agree. It reminds me of a highly-stylized version of my personal experience spending the night after my mothers memorial service in my hometown. I certainly didn't go on as many adventures, but I ran into a friend from high school (who I hadn't seen in 10 years) who talked to me on a very serious emotional level that I hadn't really encountered before in discussing my mother's sudden passing or the troubles leading up to it. Throughout the course of the night and a few different bars, we talked about things no one from my "other life" in high school knew. She also shared her own current personal issues. She had a few friends with her and I had one of my best friends with me and we all became a team for the night. At the end of the evening, I ended up walking my best friend back to our hotel on piggy-back and we ate kale pizza in bed. It was probably the best way to end one of the worst days of my life.
Had we been presented with any nefarious opportunities, we would have obliged. It seems like an ultimate truth that you can feel so suddenly close to people in situations you would not have previously imagined. And that, in the deadening vacuum of feeling that is mourning, you can do things you never would have imagined.
Thanks a lot for sharing this intimate experience. It indeed sounds so fascinating and surreal yet sad at the same time. I am sorry for the loss of your mother and you are absolutely right, best bonds are formed during the most tragic circumstances.
It becomes one of those faded memories which you'll cherish your entire life.
I'm not gonna be here that longshare
So late responding to this, but thank you for, "faded memories which you'll cherish your entire life." Not sure if that was inspired by anything, but it's great and very appropriate. Very simple, but poetic, way to explain what we all know.
I need to go back and watch this movie again.
Thank you, I think I read it somewhere but can't remember where. I love this movie. :)
