I wanted to kiss him endlessly in the end!! Haha (NO spoilers)

I've had my eyes on this film for a while, and I finally found it and watched it tonight!

The very first scene was completely unnecessary in my opinion because it reveals part of the plot in the end and gives the impression of a cheesy film, which is NOT the case!
Yeah, I got that obvious "Before Sunrise" vibe, but it didn't bother me at all. In fact, I like the idea of people (re)meeting in a particular way and spending lots of hours together alone.
The story per se is pretty heartbreaking when you stop and think about it, with loads of painful recollections, although it is masked with booze and drugs to give the impression of laid-back storytelling and perhaps less pain.

About the ending now, I was expecting some physical expression of bonding and affection between the two main characters, especially as they were acquainted with one another and secretly affectionate (one of the two), given that in "Before Sunrise" two complete strangers end up sleeping together after having met on the same day. He was utterly charming throughout the film and I would have kissed the hell outta him if I were her even if he was not to stay. The circumstances demanded for a kiss, be it out of attraction or pity for the other one's situation. But then, I understand that in real life people would indeed refrain from touching each other on their first 'date' or meeting, even if they were attracted to each other.

Lastly, Josh Hartnett's role was pretty pointless in my view, and he could have easily been replaced with an unknown actor, as it would not have made any bit of difference.

Overall, a lovely film about people and life and adulthood, rather than romance and cliches. 9/10
