If this creature was Toby from when they were children, why didn't either Katie or Kristy recognize him? If I remember correctly, Kristy interacted with Toby almost all the time. And Katie got yanked into the air by her hair. Wouldn't they have made the connection?

My assumption is that their memory of it has been largely erased, perhaps deliberately, so that the demon can bide his time and wait for a male to be born.

Also reverse it Katie was boss in almost all the ones she was in
