Am I the only one who liked this film

I thought it was going to be worse as it got 1.5 stars on ON DEMAND but I actually liked this film. Katie holmes did a great job and so did pacino and liotta. Channing tatum even surprised me. Even though the story telling flip flops between timelines I was able to follow the story pretty clearly with the exception of the french women who gargaled some of her lines and it was hard to understand at times.

I enjoyed it, gritty, depressing drama, A+ acting for the most part, some production elements were slightly cheap, but that comes with the movie making territory, and the ending is confusing people because they failed to drive home the main element of the present involving the housing projects people being booted from their homes ala part of the motivation for the letters to be getting written. I liked it.

No, I liked it. There were, as you pointed out, some incredible acting performances in it (Morgan, Cherry, Liotta etc.) and it definitely conveyed a depressing vibe which I like in a movie from time to time.

You're definitely one of the few.

I wasn't expecting to like this movie, only rented it because of the cast (Pacino, Ray Liotta). Disturbing, but well acted.

I liked it quite a bit, too. Check out my review on rym.

I liked it too. Better than I thought it would be.

Nope, I enjoyed it. I had the movie going while I was getting some work done. Rated it a six for a few minor reasons. I don't think the letters would have amounted to much. It's not a bad story I just think it could have been told a little better.

I had low expectations, but after 21 Jump St I've been seeing Channing Tatum in a new light and like the guy as an actor a lot more. He's real subtle in his performance in Son of Noone. He doesn't say much for the whole movie, it's all internalized stuff. I think he pulls off a good performance considering he hardly has any lines, and is playing a dude who was traumatized pretty majorly as a kid. This movie reminded me a bit of Donnie Brasco, and a bit of Brooklyn's finest. I agree Holmes was really good, as was Pacino.

I was surprised as well by the cable rating, but from time to time they always seem to over/under rate movies, but that could just be my opinion.

I think this movie was definitely missing something, perhaps the ending just didn't feel as dramatic as it should have, but it certainly kept me watching throughout and I enjoyed the acting. Any failings in this movie are entirely caused by the script, nothing else. Overall I would say I liked it.

It's a little disheartening to see Liotta and Pacino (along with Deniro) taking such small roles, in unheard of films, but I guess they aren't the stars they used to be. It is fortunate for them that more movies get made these days, albeit bad ones (not in this case) that wouldn't have in the past so they can still work. Once in a while, I get surprised like I did with this film though so I am grateful.

"french women" WTF man? If you don't even know Juliette Binoche then you must be new. Therefore, you don't have the right to judge.

Just viewed it,one minut ago.Juliette Binoche has not once impressed me with her acting skills, she must know someone.
I love Ray and Al and their performances but they were both so fat.Waste of talent.
Channing Tatum also fat with weak stache and very limited acting.
The black actor was a stone.
Moral of story White Cops are Great Caucasian protectos and White Warriors, but crooks. What a joke of a movie, did hey pass out valium by the ton ugh!
You need a Guy Pearce,Gary Oldman or Jesse Ventura.
