Need explanation on the term 'Son of a copper'?

I just finished watching this film and I have couple questions I hope someone on this board can clarify for me. English is not my first language so I'm kind of confused on this dialogue in the movie.

Lauren (the local journalist) said to Jonathan.
"You know what a Mucky Pup is, Officer?"
"It’s the son of a copper."
"You? You look like the son of no one."

My questions are...
1. What is a Mucky Pup?
2. What is the son of a copper?
3. Mucky Pup = Son of a copper? Can someone explain this? I'm kinda puzzled.
3. This may seem a bit dumb but what is the meaning behind the term "son of no one". I know the literal meaning but anything beyond that? I know that Jonathan's dad was a cop and he already died, but why Lauren said that to Jonathan.

Thank you guys. I really appreciate your help.

They use to call police in NYC Coppers because of the copper buttons on their uniforms back in the early 20th, late 19th century. And the term still last. Son of a cop, Son of a police. I am a daughter of a copper. hey just shortened Copper to cop.

One version of copper came from England. That they signed reports C.O.P. for constable on patrol.
