good film..one part buddy movie ,one part rom com massive part...

mans descent into an all too believable insanity...
this really jarred me...his relationship with his buddy/cop/alcohol sponsor seemed genuine and believable..
and his burgeoning relationship with the woman was so easily handled and lightly played it really threw me watching those two aspects in the movie play right alongside this guys deteriorating mental state....
It was a very 'real' feeling descent into psychosis...you could completely relate to how grey the areas were where he began to lose it...frustrations, lack of courage in situations where lets face it with out a gun and martial arts training you'd just end up the victim... a constant view of the underside of the world compounded by loneliness and solitude... god knows what he was like drinking.
Retreating just that bit more each day inside his head...
I thought it was very telling when she told him that she felt objectified... I'm not sure we saw that through her eyes but rather in his mind as he retreated inwards he distanced himself in reality from her whilst continuing the sexual physicality...this was interpreted by her as objectification...maby? or probably read too much into it.
