It could have been Virginia. More likely it was Ron Perlman coming to arrest or warn Aiden. There was SO much evidence linking Aiden at the crime scene. Even if his prints were not on file with PD or FBI, even the worst cop in the world would find out Virginia has been dating Aiden, making him a suspect. A good cover story would be that he came to talk to Virginia's other boyfriend and found him shot, presumably by the junkie who later fought Aiden as he was trying to get the victim to the hospital.
shareMeh, coulda been the cops -- but recall Perlman's soliloquy early in the film about how he appreciates homicides that involve lowlifes eliminating each other, as he can dispatch those cases with minimal investment of concern or effort. He probably turned in his reports and closed Ravi's case before the body bags arrived at the morgue.
Makes more sense to me that it was Virginia at the door, seeking comfort in her hour of need and ripe to fall prey to Aiden's new manipulative twisted empowered persona.
Either way, I rejoice at how they deliberately left it ambiguous enough for folks like us to keep having this discussion forever. Cool little movie.

Yea, I agree. I never thought it was Perlman. Even at the murder scene he was glad another junkie was off the street. I thought it was Virginia.
