Open To Interpretation:

I think that the ending is supposed to be open to interpretation. They certainly did not explain in concrete of what happens. At least not in the episode they didn't.

While it is obvious that Kagome doesn't live in Modern Japan any more, I never found any direct statement that The Bone Eating Well was functioning only for that one time. I only watched the scene where Kagome says she wants to See InuYasha and then asks to return to Feudal Japan.

With the open interpretation in mind, I am not going to worry about it any more.

It is similar to the Open Interpretation Ending Theory of Gatchaman Fighter.
