Really don't get the 6.8 score.. I thought this was great movie myself. Epic story, philosophical, some visually striking scenes, good action and great acting performances - especially by Andy Lau.
Not really an epic story, action scenes were not bad, but I guess most ppl have seen way better. Some good performances and some bad writing (like old karate flicks bad... the bad guy laughing his ass off before firing the cannon), I guess that sums it up between 6 and 7 for me. And why would you consider 6.8 a bad score? It's pretty decent.
That particular part of the movie had me confused. I expected the foreigners to be British, not American, did the U.S. even have troops in China at all prior to WW2?
Anyway, the evil laugh and general portrayal of the foreigners didn't bother me, if anything it was realistic.
There's no such thing as a well-intentioned invading force, assuming those guys were there based on real life events then yeah they were evil as all hell. That is just the way of the world...

I thought about as realistic as those black-caped villains tying young women to the railway tracks. The movie' is pretty good without being a classic. I'd love to see Jackie Chan just playing serious once in a while, instead of always seemingly demanding to be the comic relief. His character and performance didn't really fit in with the tone of the rest of the film IMO. But I found it overall to be worth a watch and gave it 7/10.🐭

I thought it was better than that. The story probably isn't interesting to a lot of people plus the fact that it is a 'foreign' movie with subtitles. Not the kind of thing your average IMDB commentator likes.
