too many tacky lines, banal philosophy

It wasn't deep but it was the basics of Zen Buddhism. Especially when he was reading what appeared to be the Tao Te Ching. I think the old TV series 'Kung Fu' was much more revealing than this movie. The movie had an awful lot to show and didn't devote much time to philosophy. I guess in 'Shaolin' they just wanted to show the contrast in his worldly thinking and Zen philosophy, but I could have used a heavier dose.

Agreed and I found it quite interesting.

So could I, but you're not going to get it, when you have to make room for Jackie Chan to do his usual thing.🐭
