What happened to Tom Conti?

Not sure what happened to him, per se, but as for the character of Miranda's father, I think that in the last episode, Penny says that her marriage to him is essentially over and that they're separating. Also, all her little "romantic escapades" with him were just her attempts at keeping the marriage alive.
