Story Rings Hollow

This film had so much potential in my eyes. And I like the fact that it was honest about how vain gay men can be. The problem is, Blaine's character isn't anything that the typical gay man would reject.

1. He's physically attractive;
2. He's got a good-paying job which puts him in the (gay) public eye;
3. He's got a great place in one of the most popular cities for gay men there is.

There's nothing about Blaine that makes him even remotely identifiable to any of the gay men out there who struggle with constant rejection because of their looks, their job, or any of the other things that gay men are so vain about.

That's why this film is hollow and empty. It could have been so much more.

But you are missing the whole point. Of course he was all of those good things. He just couldn't see in himself how much he had to offer. Sometimes others see us the way we see ourselves.
