i just watched the movie Beautiful Boy and I really liked. The acting was beautiful, the storyline was unique but I have a few questions.
why did the boy kill himself and all those other people?
what was the video playing throughout the movie with the boy talking towards the camara?
what did the boy mean in the beginning of the movie about snowflakes having 6 sides?

Nobody knows why he killed all of the people. The whole point is that the parents didn't know and would never know.
My guess on the snowflake thing is that it was supposed to be a metaphor for people. He kept saying that snowflakes were all supposed to be different from each other, which was true, but they were also all the same in the sense that they all had 6 sides. Well, the same is true for people. We're all different to some degree, but then people are the same in a lot of ways as well. This was a kid who was clearly bitter about the people around him (to open fire on that many people and then kill himself). So, maybe it's that he saw this common thread between people in general that he didn't like.
Just a guess.
