My Review: Lack Of Good Script and Direction - Could be more better.

Today I went to the first day first show of this movie being a big time
Amitabh Bachchan fan. The movie is released in UAE one day before India
and UK. I was very excited about the movie after all the hype and
promos I watched. I also watched the first movie of the same Director R
Balki "Cheeni Kum" which was a very nice movie so my expectations were
high.

To be honest this movie could be more better if it would have been
rightly directed. The problem is the lack of a good script. R Balki
wrote the script himself (His first script was rejected so he came up
with this one). The director didnot take advantage of talent of the
Legendary Amitabh Bachchan. He should have concentrated more on the
emotional side rather than concerning the Comic side.

Amitabh Bachchan's makeup was superb and his acting as always but as I
said the Director completely failed to show any scene which could be
remembered. There is only one good scene when Auro (Amitabh Bachchan)
is first introduced in the movie and his facial expressions were superb
and great acting performed by him. There are also some very good laughs
by Amitabh Bachchan. But the Director should have shown us the
emotional side of AURO (Amitabh Bachchan ) that what a child who is
aging rapidly (Suffering from Progeria) feels in daily life. The
concept was very good but the Director failed to make a master piece
which he could have done with the right script and direction. All the
actors did very well. Its a good entertainer but not a Masterpiece
which I was expecting. I give this movie 5/10 just because of Amitabh
Bachchan's prosthtic makeup and his acting.

I am the Number One fan of Amitabh Bachcha. I feel Sorry that the director wasted the talent of Amitabh Bachchan and didnt showed us what he is capable of doing in such sensitive kinda roles.

Auro, Big B Amitabh Bachchan and 'Paa' - A History

Mumbai: Hats off to Big B undefined for coming up with a scintillating undefined in 'Paa', which made him different and unique from the rest in the Indian undefined. Perhaps, Amitabh was the only person who could do justice to the role of Auro in 'Paa' and he did that, touching millions of hearts.

The 67-year-old undefined set a benchmark for other actors for many generations. The way he acted and undefined the role of a 13-year-old and made the viewers emotional, is truly amazing.

The movie 'Paa' revolved around the 13-year-old Progeria patient Auro. He was born out of wedlock of young, but ambitious politician Amol Atre (Abhishek Bachchan) and strong and determined Vidya Balan.

Amol refused to marry, in the pursuit of a political career and his desire to something for the country. But Vidya decided to give birth to Auro, who later turned out to be a Progeria patient. Auro's mom and his grandma showered love and affection on him and his struggle began outside the home.

Later, Auro met his father in a school function and befriended him. Once their relationship was revealed, there was moments of truth, emotion, repentance and many more. the movie ends on a tragic and emotional note. The most heart-breaking scene was Auro's parents taking 'Saat Phere' on his death bed.

'Paa' has everything - drama, emotion, story and music. There is little doubt that it must be sent to the Oscars. It won't be surprising, if the movie wins the Oscar and bring laurel to the country. 'Paa' is a movie to watch for. Paa' gave a new definition to Amitabh - A History...

The movie could have been a good movie IF Auro had some strong emotional scenes.

But the movies is nothing special...I give it 5 out of 10.

In response to the original post, I just watched the film, and I felt two of its strongest point were its script and its direction. It's a brilliant film.

I have to first say that I am tired of people pointing at technicalities and not responding to what the original poster was talking about. I agree that not all of us are proficient in English, but to share an opinion, is it really mandatory to be good at the language than to get the point across?!

Ok beyond that, I have to say that I expected a lot form this movie considering all the hype that surrounded it. On many fronts, the movie delivered, but a lot more was left to be desired. The acting by all the actors involved in the movie was pretty good. This remains the strongest aspect of the movie.

Beyond that, there is nothing really special to this movie. The prosthetic makeup and the performances aside, there is really nothing more that can distinguish this movie from any other movie that Bollywood releases, every other day!

The script severely handicaps what this movie was truly capable of. An MP who has nothing much to do other than fulfill a child's wishes, no matter how special he might be, is a little to far-fetched. I mean, come on! He is the freaking MP of a democracy like India for heavens sake. I am sure there is more to do for someone in such a post than just worry about keeping up his promises.

Then, there is the unnecessary sensationalism like resorting to petty techniques to get back at the media, which is simply too much to digest. This is just one of the many other ways that this movie lacks.

The movie should've focussed more on the condition of the lead actor than what it ended up achieving. Maybe they should've taken a cue from Tare Zameen Par, which was definitely a better movie on the whole. This is my opinion entirely, and I'm sure everyone is entitled to one!

Oh, and for those of you who are planning to find some flaws in my grammar, punctuation or something similar, please save your time and effort and instead post something that contributes to the discussion.

I couldn't disagree with you more strongly. The script and direction (with the performances) are what elevate "Paa" to something extraordinary. The politician (Amol) did have things to do other than be around Auro; he didn't even remember his meeting with the kid because of these responsibilities.

I, too, didn't care much for Amol's attack on the media -- it's fine he made it, but the movie, itself, shouldn't have been so eager to support his cheap tactic.

I love that "Paa" doesn't seem determined to be "one thing." It's a number of stories (Amol's, Auro's, Amol and Vidya's, etc.), yet it comes together such the viewer is left never confused or annoyed, always interested in whatever happens to be being discussed.

I found "Taare Zameen Par" to be ultimately lacking and unsatisfying; as far as I'm concerned, it ended up largely sentimentalistic (especially from some of Aamir Khan's scenes, which were anything but organic, propped up just for him to boast ideologies to the audience).
