Why did he love his parents so much?

hes just a caring dude ,some people no matter what cant help but be helpful

I don't think he thought of them as "awful". I thought he said he had a reasonably happy childhood, that he felt was marred by his parents', at times, distant relationship. Oliver is obviously written as a pretty sensitive character.🐭
