A lot of hate for a very good, and fresh film

Can't believe all the hate for this. Millions of people have soul-sucking jobs, and prefer to just live our lives with the people we love, even if it means doing something horrible. We need these connections, these "great days" when everything is just perfect, and the planets are aligned.

Anyone with a heart and the need to truly "live life, no matter what the outcome" will relate to this lovely film. It's got its horribly depressing moments but the ending is great.

Life is about family, friends, the one you love, and passion for music, art, and everything else that gets you out of bed in the morning. It's NOT about your job.

This isn't hippie-talk, here. I work just as much (if not more than) the average person, and I have days where I just want to give it all up and live in a motorhome on the beach. But I always keep things in perspective: never let the things you love, or the people you love, take the back burner. Life is too freakin' short to have the soul sucked out of you. Snap your fingers, and it's all gone, just like that. You can choose a path which fulfills every ounce of your being, or you can be a walking zombie, like so many people out there. You are the captain of your own ship. You've got the steering wheel in your hands. Go where you want, and take the road less traveled, if that's the road you know will make you the most happy.
