Star Wars rip off

Did anyone else notice the princess' barge looks almost exactly like Jabba the Hutt's Sail Barge?!

The book this movie is (very loosely) based off of was first published in 1912. It was serialized in a magazine in 1911.

Star Wars took a LOT of stuff from this story.

I wasn't saying that the magazine or book stole it from Star Wars, that would be absurd, I was saying that this MOVIE used a visual element directly from Star Wars (Jabba's Sail Barge).

Of course Star Wars was inspired/influenced by different sources in various mediums, such as Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon, Greek Mythology, the writings of Joseph Campbell, etc..

I actually had taken into consideration that Jabba's Barge was based on a vessel from those books. Though, I still do find it very, very interesting that both Lucas and the producers of this subsequent movie came up with the EXACT same image, based merely on a written description.

Star Wars rips off quite a few things. Try renting The Hidden Fortress (1958) by Akira Kurosawa and you'll find Princess Leia, C3P0, R2D2 and Hans Solo and a good chunk of the Star Wars storyline too.

Han Solo, not "Hans" Solo.
