WHO THE HELL IS DOWNVOTING THESE GAMES?

I just checked out the MGS games on imdb, every single one has a MUCH lower score! MGS3 used to be 9.6, now it's a 9. This game used to have a 9 or something, now it's 6.9?!?!? ARE YOU *beep* KIDDING ME? Peace Walker is one of the finest games of this generation! rating this a 6.9 is a simultaneous slap to the face of every game developer that ever existed! Good God! whatever troll who did this needs to be hunted down, this tarnishes the reputation of MG on imdb.

Stupid people who cant handlge stealth. Even Portable Ops is down. Every MGS game deserves to be above a 9, they are all amazing games.

reply

Good thing you don't need stealth for this game at any point whatsoever.

Also, this game is NOT one of the finest of it's generation. This game is the ET 2600 of the MGS series

Indeed, Peace Walker is the worst in the MGS series in my opinion. I haven't played Portable Ops though, I heard that one's the worst.

Never forget the platform for which it was originally developed. I'm playing it now on the PS3, loving it, it feels different from the others games but also familiar. I love how each game in the series has its own identity. This has the hand-drawn cutscenes, base and crew management, outer ops, and so on. No other MGS has this. The bite-size levels can feel limited, but again, it was for the PSP so it makes a lot of sense.

The characters are cool in their own way and each one has funny moments with the dialogue that reference the earlier games. Like the Huey / Hal connection. Or the whole Kojima is God statement. Had me laughing out loud. I simply love the MGS (Hideo) sense of humour. A game that makes me laugh cannot possibly be bad.

Portable Ops had all of that. Just not in as deep of detail. I hated the gameplay of Peace Walker (see other post on this thread) and the story pissed me off almost as bad as Rising did. I take back what I said about this being the worst Metal Gear game. Rising is the worst by far. All that fighting, all that emotional investment in the characters, and THAT is the future I fought for? Things were better when the Patriots were in charge!

Seriously though, wait till you get to the stupid Zadornov missions. You'll be questioning if Kaz and Big Boss are functionally mentally retarded by the time you're done with it.

Portable Ops has the worst gameplay for sure, but Peace Walker's story flat out pissed me off. Gameplay-wise...omfg I didn't get caught or die ONCE until the Zeke battle. Seriously, not one single freaking time. It was like the guards all had blindfolds and ear plugs in

People who clearly have more sense than you, Peace Walker isn't deserving of a straight 10, let alone 9, 6.9 to 7 is more accurate.

Lol, one of the finest games of this generation, there are plenty of fine games this generation, Peace Walker is not one of them.

The story was terrible, any sensible person will tell you that it practically ruined The Bosses character and the whole "The Boss is alive!?" thing was stupid and made no sense because Big Boss personally put a 5.56er in her skull and saw her ghost right after as well as that entire area being bombed to hell after him and Eva left, he should very well know that there's absolutely no possibility of her being alive.

Peace Walker also managed to not do things its predecessor, Portable Ops, did, despite having a bigger budget than PO had, most enemy patrols have a whopping two different models with the rest of them having one, no unique playable characters aside from Big Boss when characters like Paz, Cecile and Amanda already have in game models that could've been used for it and Portable Ops never once forced you to have to recruit people to progress through the game whereas in Peace Walker, if your R&D team isn't leveled up there's some story missions you won't be able to do.

A huge lack of unique side ops, there's maybe a handful of unique ones with the vast majority of them being copy and paste ones and more than enough of them being copy and past vehicle boss battles, sure, advertise the game having dozens of hours in extra content and make most of them vehicle battles! That's the way you make a good game!

There's an obvious lack of thought put into certain things, like the gameplay ranks you get, if you go towards one of them for say, playing mostly non-lethal, it makes it harder for you to get other ranks due to BS reasons.

Then there's all the completely unnecessary grinding just for the sake of padding out the length of the game, see first you have to grind for R&D recruits, then you have to find weapon documents, then you have to grind several different missions in order for them to develop that weapon which, depending on the rank, can very well take an hour or more.

Peace Walker is nothing special, it doesn't deserve a score higher than a 7.
