OMG, I hate this angle

I hate the whole Star Trek is so inspirational and gives us hope crap.
It really isn't THAT significant. I love Star Trek but I hate when people try to make it out as more than it is/was. The trailer for this is beyond cheesy, I nearly through up, reel it back guys, its just a sci-fi series.

I don't know what you "think" Star Trek was/is about but your post is pretty off base. In fact Star Trek is exactly what you seem to think it's not. Gene Roddenberry wanted to tell stories about the potential for good in humanity. He wanted to show men, women, all races & cultures working together as friends & equals. But in the 60s nobody would allow him to do that outright. So to get around those people he put the stories he wanted to tell in sci-fi form 300 years in the future, as a look to what could be if we worked toward it.

So to say it's "just a sci-fi series" would be 100% WRONG. Do some research of your own before you go making unfounded statements. Or better yet, now that Trek Nation is out, watch it. See for yourself & hear first hand from those who were around it back then what is was all about.

The person who started this post is clearly coming from the same point of view as Rod Roddenberry himself someone who just doesnt get what star trek is really all about and I can forgive the poster I actually feel sorry for anyone who just dont get it because they are missing out of so much and they will just never understand it all. What really amazes me is how Rod could have grown up under a rock for so many years it actually annoyed me watching this thinking how could the son grow up not having a clue about his own dad

Sept. 24 journal entry 1 I'm Liz Parker and 5 days ago I died, after that things got really weird

Being inspirational is EXACTLY what is special about the show.
