Do 15 year old girls really think like this?

It's been a long time since I was that age and I'm a guy, so my frame of reference is limited. Anybody have thoughts on Annie's actions/opinions on the matter? I mean, I believe her up to the point of getting raped, including not telling anybody but her best friend, but afterwards- the level to which she defends the guy, the degree to which she deludes herself into thinking she was special even after he stops texting once he gets a whiff of the cops' involvement and then beyond that seems excessively naive, particularly for girl who is almost 15- i mean, that's the age a lot of people are getting politically active, getting jobs, etc. for the first time, indicating more logic to their trains of thought. Anyway, just thought I'd sound off on the matter.

Keep in mind teenagers come in all flavors. Denial is stronger in others. Anyone that savvy probably wouldn't have given the creep the time of day. Predators prey on the weak not the strong. However what that weakness is varies from person to person. Also remember we didn't get to hear everything he told her and the guy was an experience predator. Predators probably get shot down by lots of girls but all they need is one yes and the game is on. Another aspect about predators that wasn't talked about is some predators coordinate their efforts to exploit children. One may pretend to be a normal teen that encourages the behavior and other predators act as a "chorus" to increase virtual peer pressure. For example one predator might be like help me get the little redhead and I'll help you work on the blonde.

Here's food for thought high schoolers and middle schoolers post their crimes on youtube to increase their status amongst their peers but at the same time are surprised they are arrested for the very same crime.

Think about those kids who made fun of the woman on the bus and stupidly posted it on youtube. Some kids don't think two steps ahead. They probably thought they would get a slap on the wrist instead of the level of ridicule they are receiving. Girls in FL beat up a classmate over a facebook slight and posted it on the internet. The girls invited the victim over even though the victim suspected one of the girls didn't like her and went anyway. Kids are more technological capable than before but in truth they've simply been given more rope to hang themselves with. Capable doesn't mean intelligent or good judgment will follow.

When I was 15, I would have been scared and disgusted if a 35 yr old approached me. When I was 21, I'd be disgusted if a 35 yr old approached me. Also, when I was 15, I could never speak to my dad the way Annie spoke to her dad. I'm 35, and I still can't speak to my dad that way. Also, when I was 15, 15 yr old girls didn't meet boys online. So, I'd say a lot has changed over the last 20 yrs. Younger girls, even as young as 12, now feel the pressure to be sexy, and liked by boys. They're studying women like Kim Kardashian, and thinking being slutty is is okay. The media perpetuates this through its advertisements in two ways. One, it causes these young girls to identify their self worth through their sex appeal. Also, these ads, which feature women who look more like girls than women, influence grown men to find this type of barely legal look sexually provocative. It's a f$@ked up world to raise a child in!

On the contrary, at 35 she probably chases 16 year old boys and thinks nothing of it. You know, she's just a "cougar".

"15 year old girls in fictional films often "think like this". It makes for a more powerful movie. Imagine how boring and short this film would have been if Annie blocked Charlie after discovering his first lie. "\

Good reply! No, 15 year old girls do not think like this at all. When I was 15, I thought essentially the same way as I do now, except that I was dogmatic about my opinions rather than open-minded. The behaviour of this Annie was that of a children's cartoon character.

I don't want realism. I want magic!

Some people can think like this at ANY age. She was vulnerable and he was a gifted manipulator.

We know that these situations happen in real life regularly to 15 year old girls/boys as well as all other ages. So of course some 15 year old girls think like this.

The majority don't - but then men like the guy in this film know exactly who they're looking for a wouldn't waste time and effort on some strong minded girl who had a clear idea of what was morally right and wrong.

and keep in mind if you watched the special feature on the dvd. David Schwimmer said the story was based on something that happened. he's a member of an anti rape group. he knows about these stories.
