Great film, poor ending.

Love this film!

The storyline was great, the acting was nothing less than perfection, cannot fault it.

...Except for the ending. Way too abrupt with too many loose ends and unanswered questions.

And as for the last scene... Too cheesy and predictable for my liking.

reply

What loose ends?

reply

Well, the biggest being what happened to Charlie? Did he get away with it?

reply

According to the final scene he did.

reply

Yes, if you look at it in the short term. What about long term though? The investigation was still ongoing when the movie finished.

There should have been a '5 years later' scene or something.

Just my opinion!

reply

I have always felt that a sequel would be great.

One year later Charlie is grooming another girl on the Internet. Only this time he gets busted! We see the effect this has on his wife, son, and others. There could be a cameo by Liana Liberato at the trial.

What do you think of my idea?

reply

I love that idea!

I really enjoyed the movie, I think a sequel would be great.

They'd have to be careful though - so many great movies have been ruined by poor sequels, I would hate that to happen with Trust.

reply

I agree. Hopefully Schwimmer will direct it.

reply

Fingers crossed!

The ending was essential.
It revealed the final, devastating twist.
No one has gotten this so far. But I have.
Clive Owen ( Dad ) set up ( for financial reasons ) the 'chance' encounter between the rapist and Annie.

reply

Daweller, what the hell are you talking about?

reply

I agree with you Theatre_Of_Power. I have no idea what he's talking about either!

reply

denial aint just a river in Egypt

reply

Daweller is obviously trolling, since he won't explain his post.

At the end of the movie , the secret is revealed in the home movie footage.
The pedophile is shown negotiating with another family.
You can hear the father telling him ' OK sure $5000 but no less '

reply

I think you were watching a different movie.

reply

Yeah that was my complaint as well.

I almost gave the movie a perfect score. But I couldn't forgive the ending.

reply

The non-Hollywood approach by the writer seems to have confused a lot. It's not a revenge movie but a drama about feelings and emotions.

reply

yeah the ending could of been better. But the movie is just awesome imo

Is there any other movie like this out there? PM me them

I love the ending!!

From the moment I seen the young girl looking out of the window it's remind me the ending of the movie Ordinary People, I am 85% sure that David Schwimmer influenced by this movie.
About the unanswered questions it's true but I think the main theme of this movie is trust: trust the stranger, the law enforcement, your daughter and more than all trust yourself, in this case, the ending is almost prefect.

I agree 100%, what is a film without a good ending. The start was slow but it got good towards the middle, only to be seriously let down by the ending...
