Are all teenagers like that in America?

I see it in many American movies. Children have lots of 'personality', they can say anything their ass wants, they can shout at their parents and be incredibly rude at times. Meanwhile, their parents have to be respectuos, to take care not to upset them or disturb their intimacy, they can never actually tell them what to do but they have to respect their teenagers' wishes. Are you *beep* kidding me?

In my country, kids owe some respect to their old men. I know, all children deserve a supporting hand when they fail or something, but if I begin screaming at my parents, they would lecture the hell out of me until I come back to my senses. They try to reach my conscience and make me understand that I made a mistake, they are older than me and also wiser and I'm by no means the best or the smartest to act like that.

What the *beep* is this sort of education in America that turns kids into freaking mindless brats?

This is a stereotype in sub-par films and do not fairly represent American kids.

It also reflects the attitudes of a left leaning hollywood.

There are people out there who believe in not only controlling their kids but in beating them. But, the leftist slant sees such behavior as bad and so you get wimpy parents who let their kids get away with a lot of stuff that they wouldn't in real life.

A lot of studies have shown that spanking your kid does more harm than good. Your kid obeys you because they're afraid...not because they respect you. And of course maybe it works for certain kids and not others...but yeah some kids have more sensitive...temperments and hitting them just isn't going to benefit them. Also, I didn't notice this girl "acting like a brat" until after the rape. It's very normal for someone to act out after something traumatic like that happens. It doesn't excuse their behavior, but it makes it understandable.

What studies? Spanking worked pretty well for me and I have a good relationship with my dad. My brother got spanked way more than me and he apparently didn't get it.

reply

Me, too. I don't know about you, but I don't recall psychologists studying me to find out how I turned out after being spanked as a child.

I think Clive Owen's creepy obsessiveness and blatant fault finding would have pushed anyone's buttons a bit beyond reason.

That's because you're stupid and you can't separate fiction from reality. And in regards to education, Asian kids in America are better educated and smarter than the average person in all other countries, including yours.

That's a ridiculous statement and is - quite obviously - completely and utterly wrong. The American education system is NOWHERE near the best in the world; it's way, WAY down the list and isn't even close to the Top 10. As for the idea that Asian kids are smarter than non-Asian kids - whether they be in America, or any other country - that's obviously a ridiculous, completely unsupported statement too and is nothing more than unadulterated racism. Of course ... assuming that you're an Asian American yourself then, in a twist of delicious irony, your own comment disproves itself beautifully!

YOU. ARE. AN. IGNORANT. IMBECILE.

We're from the planet Duplon. We are here to destroy you.

reply

You'd have to be ignorant to ask that kind of question.
