Ridiculous, just beyond silly and slapstick. It felt like that was going to set the tone for the rest of the movie.
But then it got back on the rails and continued to the end as a fun, and funny, romp. I liked it a lot.
That part caught me off guard (apparently that moment was in the trailer but I didn't watch that beforehand). Not only the the effects look shaky and more like Looney Tunes, it didn't match the tone established by the film like you said.
I guess we just accept the fact Will Farrell crashed and got stuck inside a wall and was perfectly fine.
