You might call it a ploy to try to get money. I feel like they want to finally be able to at least wrap up their internet series and give it a proper ending. I can't believe its been 5 years since the last internet show episode.
However they have mentioned if the movie is a lot of great reception they may consider a season 3 for the internet show.
