Just watched this. Yeah this was overall a very disappointing film after stuff like Driven to Kill and The Keeper.
Good Points:
- The fights were great (although editing was still a bit meh) and Seagal pulled some of his coolest moves in a while, although no-one put up much of a fight
- I enjoyed the score – found it genueinly exciting at times
- The villains were cool, although Darren needed more fighting IMO
- The very end scene with the chess set in the park was a nice ending I feel (then they had to ruin it by splicing in a stupid irrelevant gunshot)
Bad Points:
- Seagal seriously needs to lose weight, he’s lost all credibility as an action hero. This was his fattest ever! Also his character wasn’t very likeable.
- Film had a really cheap look to it throughout
- Dubbing!! Steve’s voice is dubbed a lot in this. Very distracting.
- Slowed down/sped up shots and editing were very annoying and distracting.
- Very one sided fights, Seagal barely gets scratched – removes all the tension.
- Subtitle style was annoying and jumpy.
- Weak plot, needed fleshing out a lot
- Stupid love scene with a girl young enough to be his granddaughter.

You’d think that given he wrote the script he’d a least care about the film enough to go back and do voice overs, but apparently not.

I’d like to see a film where Seagal is a broken man again, like Pistol Whipped. He would acknowledge his weight and age and get beaten badly to near death at times. Also, give him a budget of at least $15,000,000 and shoot in 2.35:1 aspect ratio which, IMO, always looks more impressive.

But yeah, crappy film, hope his new TV series is better. (3.5/10)

I totally agree that BTRH is not even close to A Dangerous Man. I actually hated Born To Raise Hell. I watched it online once. I'm trying to watch it again, but it is so Fn BORING. It has absolutely NO REPLAY VALUE. All you need to watch is this video with the action scenes:

Thie was far better than his previous one (Dnagerousman), atleast Seagal is doing the fights and has lost a little weight and the fight scenes are better than most of his DTV films. Its Into the Sun quality in Romanian style.

Its pure Seagal formula. So no, but its funny to laugh at.

It works as a comedy. Seriously, give it a go. It's not so bad as to be comedy gold, but there's enuff Seagalisms to make it very entertaining in a strictly awful kind of way. But save it for when you have absolutely nothing else to watch. By that I mean you've already watched everything on Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Fire TV, Amazon Prime, every other movie in your DVD collection atleast twice, and you either don't have cable TV or your cable TV is on the fritz, and you either have no friends to talk with or its so late that everyone else is asleep, you've already masturbated for the evening, and you've already viewed everything on the Internet, including every Web page, blog, etc. Now, you are ready to watch Born to Raise Hell. Enjoy!
