I feel no sympathy for Sarah.

Throughout this whole movie, it trys to show Sarah's problem in a sympathetic light but I can't feel sorry for someone who did this to herself. Plus how badly this movie was writing makes it even worse.

I couldn't sympathize with her because I had no idea what she was feeling. There was one scene where she pointed out the flaws of her parents, but no one bothered to explain why she wanted a kid. It's obviously at least a little more than just "every girl wants a family", etc. She was such an empty character. She's not a victim, all I saw in her was a girl trying to tie down her boyfriend with a baby. And to me, that's just plain cruel.
And no, no one explained why Sarah felt this way. Just that she did.

To me, I lack sympathy for her because of what she did to Jesse/her boyfriend. Just cuz the female is the one who carries the baby...it is half the dad's too. It's not just some a little bun she decides to bake, but a life that is half his too. And purposefully getting pregnant when he was not in on it is terrible. I mean no, no one was forcing him to have sex with her but...it's just cruel, I think, when females do that to men. (I'm female.)

No, that's a different situation. She shouldn't be forced and tied down to carry a baby just because he wants to. He's not the one who has to face public embarrassment, carry it for nine months, go through all sorts of pain.

I felt sympathy for her because she just didn't know any better. As someone who is used to working around teenagers everyday, I can say that most 15 year-old teenage girls are just like Sarah. They're naive, gullible, are just have no idea how the real world works. In that sense, I think she honestly believed that if she had a baby, then her whole world would be perfect and peachy-keen. This is what so many teenage girls who get pregnant really think, especially the ones who have never been exposed to anything more that they can do with their lives. Let's also not fotget the added presence of peer pressure. She had to listen to her friends everyday talk about how wonderful it was to be pregnant, and she was the only one who wasn't. As stupid as that may sound, many teenagers will do almost anything to be accepted by their peers, even if it means getting pregnant.

Also, she grew up with a very conservative and stupid mother who, for some strange reason, thought that her 15 year-old daughter could be trusted to make all the right decisions without ever taking the time to teach her how to make those decisions. The fact that she was an innocent unworldy teenage girl, combined with the fact that her mother was an idiot, made me feel sympathetic for her because it showed that she really didn't know what she was getting herself into. It wasn't until the end of the movie, after the birth of the child, that she finally was forced to grow up. Unfortuantely, that's what it takes for most girls in her situation.

Gods_finest - that's about half of what I thought.

Until a guy can get pregnant, or transfer the fetus into the guys body, should the woman object to being pregnant, there really is no argument.

Her parents were the big idiots...

Girls are the ones leading the guys and they take advantage? Not saying that doesn't happen but plenty of guys pressure girls into having sex. I don't see why the female should automatically get the blame. It really depends on the situation, but I think that many times both are to blame.

Ah okay. I gotcha. And I'd have to say I agree with you.The greater the consequence the more you should watch out (and girls obviously bear the brunt of a pregnancy), especially when nothing can stop the guy from ditching you.
