The Set

Whoever produced this TV movie has never been on a cruise ship. The cabins on this TV ship were so huge and look nothing like any ship I've ever been on. The nicest suites aren't even this big. Even the common areas of this ship look more like a hotel or land resort than a real ship. I wish they would do their research.

ha - you are so correct! I was on that same ship (which creeps me out a bit now) and not only was the set was nicer than the ship, I did have the pleasure of staying in the same type of suite the 'forrests' stayed in - NOTHING remotely close to what they had in this movie. That is actually the first thing I noticed. I wondered where exactly the cheesy cruise ship decor was -

Same here!!!

The shot almost all of this at the Kahala Resort on Oahu. They green-screened the windows in the lobby, workout rooms etc. to make it look like they were on an ocean liner.

The Kahala is fantastic btw...

They also need greater space to enact the script. They couldn't cramp actors and crew into tiny spaces.

Camera equipment wouldn't have allowed them to shoot in tiny rooms.

The actors weren't on a real ship, it was all green-screen, Summer Glau said it in an interview.

Here's a behind-the scenes video showing the visual special effects: http://summerglauwiki.com/blog/behind_the_magic_building_a_digital_cru ise_ship_for_deadly_honeymoon/2013-06-19-831
