I enjoyed the film and applaud the lack of cliches that I expected. I loved the Aymara dialogue and I also liked the unusual balance Carol strikes between being a bitch mother and a loving mother. But the relationship between Wilson and Carol just didn’t ring true. I sensed no love, only a relationship of convenience. So why was he hanging in there after not being paid for so many months? Why was she so pissed at him using her bathroom yet she’s contemplating starting anew with him on her country plot?

And the last scene was strange. She had been shown packing up her things, presumably upon accepting the offer and then there is the final scene in the garden where everyone is happily living it up. Was that one last fling or was she fantasizing an idyllic gathering of her family?
