Mary's scars...

Mary's new path that was created due to Rose pouring the hot oil on Mary's child self.. Wouldn't something like that have been reported in newspapers, or her mom reporting that event to the police, and Rose being charged/convicted with child abuse and her mom being allot more aware and careful about who child Mary is with? After Mary's scarring develops we next see her looking at the pics of her and her mom in the hospital... I wonder why the "new" past doesnt include Rose having consequences to burning Mary's child self. I really enjoyed this movie a great deal, regardless of any little bit of discrepancy.
